The first beer in our virtual trip to Russia sees us brew our own interpretation on Kvass, a session strength beer traditionally brewed with rye bread across the Baltic states. We sourced wholemeal sourdough from local bakery Bluebird and built up a grist combining plenty of rye intertwined with oats and wheat as we do for our hazy IPA styles. After fermenting with our house Kveik strain we dry-hopped generously with Amarillo and El Dorado. The result is a lightly tangy session IPA with a complex spice from the bread and rye, a full mouthfeel of sweet orange flavours, and a pithy lemon finish.
