Fraser Withers – the middle child – won the Elusive Brewery wit-a-thon late in 2021. Andy Parker’s Elusive Brewery hosted the judging and helped the winning homebrewer start their very own commercial operation. Fraser winning this is allows homebrewers up and down the country to breath a collective sigh of relief. Finally anyone other than Fraser has a chance of ever winning any competition.

Fraser is probably one of the best brewers in the country. Here are his beers. Middle child is his brewery.

A Wee Heavy is a strong complex Scottish Ale. We used a simple recipe of pale malt, roasted barley and a handful of East Kent Goldings before boiling for a staggeringly long time to encourage caramelisation and get it up to 9.9 % It then spent 4 months maturing in an ex-Bourbon Whisky cask. Expect lots of toffee, caramel and plum, married with the Vanilla Bourbon oak tones. This is a dangerously drinkable full-bodied beer that gives a hit you’ll want to come back for time after time.
