The lexicon says that an “elixir” is an extract from medicinal plants with various additives that is dissolved in alcohol. And if you consider that the monks would never have gotten through Lent without beer, then “Der Weisse Bock” is definitely such an elixir. That is why it is traditionally available from Ash Wednesday. Dark brown, with a slight red tinge and a delicate haze of yeast – this is how it flows into the glass. And first the taste! Soft malty. Freshly sparkling. With a hint of sweetness that ends in a mildly bitter and velvety manner. Somebody has to brew that for us first. It’s actually a shame that Lent passes so quickly. We are especially proud that “Der Weisse Bock” not only won the gold medal at the European Beer Star 2013, but was also awarded platinum by “Genuss bier.pur”.
